by hayan-skincare Admin on May 09, 2022

Surely you’ve heard about the intense skincare routine that Koreans devoutly follow. More than a beauty routine, it is a lifestyle that has been gaining popularity, becoming a global phenomenon. Everyone wants to know the secrets to achieving perfect skin and who better than the Koreans to set an example?
Here at Hayan K Beauty’s blog we will share with you the 10 indispensable steps that make up the Korean beauty routine, according to their own culture. First of all, remember that it is not about having an infinite number of products, but about having the right products that fulfill the functions your skin needs and, above all, using them in the right order and with the right consistency. In summary, a K-Beauty routine usually involves these 10 steps:

  • Make-up remover and oil cleanser
  • Water-based Cleaner
  • Exfoliant
  • Tonic
  • Essence
  • Treatments
  • Sheet Mask
  • Eye Cream
  • Moisturizer
  • Sunscreen

Now, we divided the 10 steps into 4 main objectives for you to better understand the process of this ritual:

Cleaning

1.- Make-up remover and oil cleanerDouble cleanliness is the golden rule of Korean skincare. That’s why oil-based cleansers are the first step and the basis of the skin care routine. This product helps remove makeup and other impurities from your skin.
2.- Water Based Cleanser
The next step to complete the double cleaning is a water-based cleaner. Emphasis is placed on this, as it ensures that you completely remove the impurities that can cause breakouts on your skin, and don’t forget that it is important to apply it to your neck as well!
3.- Exfoliant
To cleanse your pores and get rid of dead skin it is super important to exfoliate 1 or 2 times a week (with special attention to the nose and visible pores on the cheeks). This step helps your skin look smoother and more radiant, and also contributes to the better absorption and efficiency of the products that come after. Hayan’s Aqua Peeling Gel is excellent for this phase of your skincare routine.

Preparation

4.- Tonic
The tonic is the part of the skincare routine that prepares your skin to absorb the products of the following steps well, in addition to helping regulate your pH. For this step, you can use a cotton pad to spread the product on your face or, alternatively, you can apply it by tapping it with your fingers.

Nutrition

5.- EssenceThe essences are very light and contain moisturizing and anti aging ingredients that help improve the appearance of your skin. To apply this product, you only need to lightly tap your face and neck with your fingers.
6.-Treatments
Treatments for a skincare routine include products such as serums and ampoules to perfect the skin, which contain ingredients to attack specific problems such as acne or hyperpigmentation. To apply these types of products, it is also enough to use light taps on the face, especially on the affected areas.
7.- Sheet masks
The sheet masks are the stars, the soul, the heart of the Korean skincare routine. The secret of this product is found in the fabric and the variety of ingredients of the serum that makes it up such as: aloe vera, snail slime, activated carbon, volcanic ash, coconut, collagen, honey, cucumber, white pearl, green tea, among others.
Putting the sheet masks in contact with your skin for a long time, helps to completely absorb all its nutrients. You can use them daily and leave them on for 15 – 20 minutes. When you finish, don’t forget to use the remaining essence from the package on your face and neck!
8.- Eye cream
The skin around your eyes is the most delicate on your face. These creams contain ingredients that help not only to moisturize, but also to avoid dark circles, inflammation and crow’s feet. Apply this product with light taps (never rub), using only your little finger.
As an extra, to pamper yourself, it never hurts to use an eye patch as a complement.

Protection

9.- Moisturizing
We arrive at step 9 and the end of this ritual is almost upon us. Moisturizers can be found in different forms (emulsions, creams, gels, sleep masks) and help seal in the moisture in your skin. Remember to apply the product to your face and neck, in the morning and at night, every day.
10.- Sunscreen
The sunscreen is the last station of this Korean skincare trip. You should apply it to your skin daily, at least every 3 hours, even if it is cloudy outside or you are going to be indoors for a long time. It protects your skin from UV rays and is the easiest and most effective way to prevent aging (and skin cancer).
